Burst pipe water damage cleanup and repair
A broken supply line can move water through walls, insulation, subfloors, and finished rooms quickly. The visible puddle is only part of the loss.
What to do first
Stop the water without creating another hazard
01Shut off the main water valve if you can reach it safely.
02Avoid standing water near outlets, appliances, or an electrical panel.
03Move valuables only when doing so is safe and will not spread contaminated water.
04Photograph visible damage before cleanup when practical.
05Call for an assessment and current response availability.
What we do
What happens after a pipe breaks
01Confirm the water source has been stopped or coordinate the appropriate trade.
02Map visible and hidden moisture before removal begins.
03Extract standing water and remove materials that cannot be dried safely.
04Dry framing, subfloor, and other salvageable materials to documented targets.
05Rebuild insulation, drywall, flooring, trim, paint, and other affected finishes.
Insurance
Sudden pipe losses are often treated differently from maintenance problems
A sudden accidental pipe break or some frozen-pipe losses may be covered under a homeowners policy, while deterioration, unresolved maintenance, or negligence can change the result. The damaged pipe itself and the resulting water damage can also be treated differently under a policy.
Coverage depends on the cause of loss, your policy, endorsements, limits, and deductible. We document the damage and our work; your insurer makes the coverage decision.
